Eligibility
It is open to citizens of countries recognised by Malaysia, regardless race, religion,
gender or age. The programme allows applicants to bring with them their spouses
of Malaysian and expatriates who wish to retire in Malaysia after expiry of their
Employment Passes are also eligible to apply stay in Malaysia on this programme.
Entry Requirements
Interested applicants are expected to be financially capable of supporting themselves
in Malaysia to qualify for the programme.
Upon application:
- Applicants aged below 50 years are required to show proof of liquid assets worth
a minimum of RM500,000 and offshore income of RM10,000 per month
- Applicants aged 50 and above may comply with the financial proof of RM350,000 in
liquid assets OR proof of government pension funds of RM10,000 per month
- New applicants who have purchased properties worth at least RM 1 million qualify
to place a lower fixed deposit amount upon approval (details on full fixed deposit exemption)
[Financial proof can be in the form of cash, deposits, bonds, securities, properties
and other assets]
Successful Applicants
Successful applicants will be issued Conditional Approval Letters which are valid
for six months. Effective 1st April 2009, applicants are required to comply with
the financial requirement, medical report, medical insurance and security bond guidelines
before the Malaysia My Second Home Social Visit Pass with multiple entry visa is
issued.
Financial Requirements
Aged below 50 years
- Open a fixed deposit account of RM300,000
- Maintain a minimum amount of RM150,000 from second year onwards

approved expenses]
Aged 50 years and above
- Open a fixed deposit account of RM150,000. Maintain a minimum amount of RM100,000
from second year onwards OR
- Show proof of government approved pension funds of RM10,000
[From the second year onwards, participants who fulfill the fixed deposit criterion,
may choose to withdraw up to RM50,000 for approved expenses, details on withdrawal guidelines ]
Medical Report
All applicants and their dependants are required to submit a medical report from
any private hospital or registered clinic in Malaysia.
Medical Insurance
Approved participants and their dependents must posses valid medical insurance coverage
that is applicable in Malaysia from any insurance company. However, exemption may
be given for participants who face difficulty in obtaining a medical insurance due
to their age or medical condition.
Security Bond
Applicants applying directly are required to fulfill the security bond condition
Personal Bond
Licensed companies are required to provide the personal bond for their clients who
have been approved under the MM2H Programme
Incentives
Several incentives are provided to MM2H participants to make their stay in Malaysia
more comfortable and enjoyable. These are as follows:
1. House Purchase
Each participants is allowed to purchase unlimited number of residential properties
at minimum price of RM250,000 per unit depending on the location of the property.
Profit from the sale of residential property is exemption from Real Property Gains
Tax.
2. Car Purchase
Each participant is allowed to bring in his/her own personal car OR purchase a locally
assembled car without the need to pay import duty, excise duty and sales tax [details on car tax/duty exemption].
3. Domestic Helper
Each participant is allowed to apply for one domestic helper subject to the prevailing
guidelines of the Immigration Department of Malaysia. [details on domestic helper application guidelines].
4. Foreign Income from Abroad
Foreign income remitted from abroad is tax exempt [Refer to the Inland Revenue Board
Malaysia’s at http://www.hasil.org.my
for taxation matters. Profits and interest earned within Malaysia is taxable]
5. Employment
Participants aged 50 years and above who are qualified and experience can apply
to work in sectors approved by the Government [details on Employment under MM2H]
6. Business and Investment
Participant are allowed to invest and actively participate in business. Subject
to existing Government policies, regulation and guidelines which are in force for
related sectors [details on setting up business in Malaysia].
Applications
New Applications
Applicants may choose to apply directly to Malaysia My Second Home Centre OR appoint
an authorised company to do so on their behalf.
Only MM2H companies licensed by the Ministry of Tourism are allowed to submit applications
to the MM2H Centre. The maximum fee chargeable is RM10,000 per application. [The

Processing Time and Approval
All applications with complete documentation will be processed within 30 working
days from the submission date.
Conditional Approval Letter
A Conditional Approval Letter will be issued to the successful applicant, allowing
him a 6 months grace period to be in Malaysia to comply with the conditions of placing,
a fixed deposit, submitting his medical report, preparing his security bond (for
direct applicants) and purchasing a medical insurance.
Social Visit Pass with Multiple Entry Visa
Once an applicant has complied with all the conditions in the Conditional Approval
Letter, he may proceed to the Immigration Unit, MM2H Centre at Level 6, Putra World
Trade Centre to have his passport endorsed with the MM2H Visa. A visa fee of RM90
per year will be collected. A Journey Performed Fee of RM500 may also be imposed
before the endorsement is given.
Extension - Change of Passport
Participants who did not receive the full duration of the 10 year MM2H visa due
to earlier expiry of passport may receive the balance of the visa period in their

Renewal - expiry of MM2H visa
Participants may apply to renew their MM2H visa from six months before the expiry
of the MM2H visa [details on the renewal guidelines]
Application to include Spouse/Parents/Children as Dependents
Participants who have not included their spouses, parents or children a dependants
may apply to have them included [details on inclusion].
Application for Domestic Helper
MM2H participants are allowed to have the services of one domestic helper [details on domestic helper application guidelines].
Application for MM2H ID Card
MM2H participants who have a domicile address in Malaysia may apply for the MM2H
ID Card [details on MM2H ID Card application].
Application for FD withdrawal
From the second year, participants may choose to withdraw part of their fixed deposit
for house purchase or refinancing of housing loan, car purchase, medical treatment,
children’s education and business by submitting the following documents [details on Fixed Deposit withdrawal].
Termination
Participants can choose to terminate their stay in Malaysia anytime by forwarding
the following documents to MM2H Centre:
- Letter of Intent to terminate their stay in Malaysia under this programme
- A copy of passport
- Flight ticket (if applicable)
- MM2H ID Card (if any)
- A copy of the fixed deposit certificate (if applicable)
A consent letter will be issued on the same day to the respective bank to authorise
the release of the fixed deposit which was placed under this programme. Applicant
is required to cancel his Social Visit Pass at the Immigration Department before
the withdrawal of the remaining deposit.
